About Me
It's been a long and winding road...
First and foremost I see my role here at the School of Muse as nothing more than a facilitator. I am by no means an expert in the world of education, but I am indeed passionate about it. It is this passion that drives me to seek continuing education in the world of education and to share my findings and thoughts with other passionate (or mildly interested) educators, parents, and community members. As a former teacher, I no longer need the credits to maintain my certification, but I continue to explore contemporary ideas and theories in education.
My years as an educator were tangled between other career paths over the past thirty years, including working in multi-million dollar, large format, commercial screen printing production facilities, promotional products sales companies, and as a detailer for a structural engineering company. Many of those positions were juggled with being a wife and mom; with the role of mom being the hardest, most rewarding and requiring the highest level of education I could manage.
In the past, as an educator I’ve advocated for my students and as a mom I’ve advocated for my own student to ensure that they were getting the best educational opportunities that were available. Now, I would like to think that by sharing my musings based on my observations, experiences and the diligent research of others that I continue to advocate for society as a whole to receive the best educational opportunities that can be offered.
My education is modest at best, however, for reasons of transparency I will note that I have earned a B.S. in Visual Communication Technology from Bowling Green State University, completed coursework that lead to a Certification in Secondary Mathematics from California University of Pennsylvania, and earned a M.Ed in Technology Education from California University of Pennsylvania.
About the School of Muse
the School of Muse was conceived out of a passion for education, a desire to see future generations reach new heights, and a disdain for mediocrity. It is intended to generate awareness, thoughts, and conversations regarding the effectiveness of education, primarily in the United States.
I will manage this virtual classroom much like I did the brick-and-mortar classrooms in which I taught. Everyone will be treated with respect thus maintaining a supportive learning environment where questions are encouraged. Together we will seek an understanding of the processes, policies, and current trends in education.
Mission/Objectives
I hope to explore and expand knowledge, skills and attitudes surrounding education by sharing current information, research, and opportunities through the continuation of conversations started by educational visionaries, as well as my own personal observations and experiences.
Vision/Outcomes
It is my hope that the School of Muse will inspire personal growth, development, and passion for all things education in a way that compels us to take action to improve the processes and attitudes applied to our educational systems for future generations. I long to see ethics, respect and value restored to the institution of education.
